Derryveagh Mountains

During the summer I took a trip to County Donegal in Ireland and I was immediately inspired by the quiet and sparsely populated landscape. I regularly found views that I wanted to draw or paint. One scene was discovered as I drove through the Derryveagh Mountains and I had to stop to take a photo. I’ve just completed a small painting based on this view and I feel that I have captured the mood and look of the area. There’s something special about places like this and I find that I am unable to put into words how it makes me feel but a painting captures it perfectly. You can view the work in the ‘Quiet Roads’ section of this website.
